2. Valuing and Managing Diversity (VMD) Workshop
Today’s business landscape requires more than before that business managers and leaders should possess world class technical abilities, flexible mental models and effective people and team leadership capabilities, as these are central to the achievement of business objectives. On this programme you will learn to understand the subtleties of human nature and human behaviour in the workplace, whilst gaining a deeper insight into yourself. You will also expand your broad and deep understanding of diversity dynamics, the impact of the socialisation process on work behaviours and a compelling business case for diversity in your organisation. 4. Valuing Diversity Beyond Awareness
Diversity awareness and education form a vital foundation for individuals, work teams and organisations. To sustain and ensure applicability of the awareness and knowledge gained on a diversity awareness workshop, relevant incremental skills need to be developed. On this training programme learn to operationalise and manage personal diversity change by revisiting the learning gained from 7-Up and 14-Up South Africa longitudinal study video series, and extend it to learning about this vital process of diversity change through the recently released 21-Up video. This will culminate in the development of your own personal diversity change action plan. Also learn about conflict, your own conflict handling style and how to manage conflict effectively.

5. Managing Diversity for a Competitive Advantage
Top leaders of organisations require straight -to-the-point information that will help them in making strategic decisions on topical issues and processes impacting on business. Diversity management, as part of people management and transformation management in contemporary South African organisations, is a relevant strategic business matter. This training programme helps leaders to be able to make the links between strategy, transformation, people management, diversity management and business success. 6. Employment Equity & Diversity Programme
The Employment Equity Act 55/1998 is not well understood by even those that are tasked with guiding their organisations to achieve both its business and compliance objectives. The understanding is almost non-existent in line managers who are tasked with implementation, and staff members who are to live through this process. In fact, the current understanding is negative and mostly feulled by conventional perceptions on transformation. Members of Employment Equity Committees will learn to blend the business context, legal compliance, and the spirit of the equity process and the management of diversity that should underpin and sustain the equity objectives and add value to the business. This knowledge will result in both pro-active and re-active strategies for successful integration, implementation and sustenance.
This two (2) day programme is targeted at members of Employment Equity Committees.
Target Audience Employment Equity Forum Members Group Size 20 Programme Goal To provide clarity on the Employment Equity legislative mandate, the role of the Employment Equity Forum, as well as pro-active and re-active strategies to nurture and promote equity and diversity in the workplace and address barriers to equity. Learning Outcomes • Understand key aspects of the Employment Equity Act 55/1998 in terms of procedural and substantive compliance. • Develop the ability to analyse and make sense of the Employment Equity Report. • Provide clarity on the role, powers and limitations of the Employment Equity Forum. • Develop practical pro-active and re-active strategies and interventions to address equity barriers and nurture diversity. • Develop an implementation plan for Forum activities.
